UNC senior. Disc golf fanatic. Independent consultant focused on the operational problems small businesses actually have.
Maxten Jewell · Charlotte Area, NC
I'm a senior at UNC Chapel Hill and a competitive disc golfer. I run Jewell Strategies, LLC, an independent consulting practice for small and mid-size businesses with real operational problems. Your business shouldn't be held back by digital constraints or unclear next steps. I'm here to help overcome that.
I started this because I kept seeing the same situation: capable businesses held back by systems that hadn't kept up, processes from five years ago that nobody had questioned, and decisions that just needed someone to push them across the line. Whether it's a technology build, a financial cleanup, a leadership transition, or a strategic session, the work starts with your specific situation and ends with something you can use.
When I work with clients my goal isn't just delivering what's expected, but also to get rooted in with your business and want success for it just as much as you do. I will always strive to follow through with actionable, well-researched, work every step of the way to build our (hopefully) ongoing business relationship.
Before I recommend anything, I understand the actual problem. Every engagement starts with real research into your specific situation. Pre-built solutions looking for a problem are not useful.
The output of every engagement is something real: a system that runs, a report you can use, a decision that gets made, a process that's actually followed. No vague findings decks.
I limit my active engagements on purpose. You get more than advice. You get a consultant who is invested in your outcome and present throughout the process, not just at the kickoff call.
I work within what's real: your budget, your staff, your season, your pace. Good consulting advice that can't be implemented isn't good consulting advice.
These came from clients mid-engagement and at the close of projects. Both are from Cline's Nursery, a fifth-generation family business in Shelby, NC.
Working with Max has been a major win for Cline's Nursery. His work has been focused on making our website more consumer-connected and easier to use, and the results are real and quantifiable. Our website feels alive.
You did a great job facilitating the meeting today and I feel confident we'll accomplish a lot over the next few weeks. You addressed opportunities within the company that needed to be addressed, and you did it the right way.
I have worked with a lot of consultants throughout my career. What I want Max to walk away from Cline's Nursery with is a set of quantifiable, actionable items that made a tangible impact on this business. The kind another company would look at and say: I want what he accomplished there.
Even though Maxten has only been working with us a short while, he has done so much good, giving life to our stale website with graphics, reviews, and easy navigation of live inventory for both retail and wholesale customers. Highly recommended.
Maxten's personality and knowledge have been the catalyst for several major improvements in just three months. His friendly, unassuming, and enthusiastic approach had all 20-plus of us eager to explore avenues of improvement. He polled employees and customers, rebuilt the website, wrote custom code for a live inventory system, and tackled problems I didn't even know we had, including a phone and internet outage that would have cost us dearly. He resolved it within hours using Starlink. Having initiative, following through, and delivering on goals made Maxten a quality asset to our team.
